The site of an original war time bungalow of approximately 74m2, uninhabitable due to several health and safety issues, a re-build was eminent. The homeowner contacted U+A’s Architects’ Canadian affiliate JNC -Architect with the desire to construct a new residence, inspired and to be designed within a craftsman style of architecture.

Collectively the homeowner and Architect worked intensely in search for a balance between exterior detailing and functional interior program. While the exterior design reflected the craftsman flare, the interior became a fusion between traditional and contemporary spaces incorporating open concept planning. The new home now stands at 2 storeys having an overall area of 230m2, including: 3 bedrooms, four and a half baths, and a laundry room facility located on the 2nd floor. A nanny’s quarters was also designed into the basement which also incorporated a walkout from the space into the rear yard.

For this project, JNC – Architect Inc. was responsible for all aspects from planning, design and Contract Administration during construction. Construction completed in 2006.
